The problem I have is that although I'm short and lightweight and can absolutely ride a pony, for the majority of classes, I am out of class. However, there are some ways around this.
One option is mountain and moorland classes, including the mountain and moorland working hunter classes. There are limited age restrictions for native ponies. Additionally, another working hunter class you can enter if you have a plaited pony is the training stakes.
Other options for plaited ponies include Welsh part-breds, which have no age restrictions but your mount must be part Welsh.
Veteran horse and pony classes are also a good option as at most shows they do not have age restrictions on the riders.
