For the Love of Showing Horses and Ponies

One of my favourite activities is spectating at shows during the summer and, of course, in winter as well. In the winter we have the Horse of the Year Show and the London International, formerly Olympia, now at the Excel Centre.
Back to summer…
Some of the shows I am most looking forward to this summer are the Royal Welsh. Living on the Welsh borders, I appreciate that it feels like a proper countryside show. Some days are better than others for horses. The Welsh cobs are always shown on the Wednesday, which is the most popular day. The shopping tends to lean more towards agriculture than horses, but you can find some great bargains. I bought a fantastic saddle there last year at a great price.
I really enjoy the Royal Windsor. It was one of my favorite shows last year. The working hunter classes are exceptional, and the effort put into those fences is incredible. It is truly a great show with excellent shopping and a variety of things to see in beautiful surroundings.
I also adore Hickstead. I did not attend the Royal International last year, but I went to the Derby meeting, which was so much fun. There is a good selection of showing, and watching the actual Hickstead Derby is quite special. I would recommend it to anyone.
This year, I am going to the Norfolk show for the first time. I am really excited and have heard wonderful things. The Three Counties also looks really promising.
Looking forward to a busy summer of shows!
