Training stakes are classes designed to get people into working hunters, as well as mountain and moorland working hunter ponies. The classes feature fences that are very inviting. The fences aren't very high; they are intended to build confidence. No super scary fillers or tricky distances, everything is intended to be inviting.

Once the round of jumps has been completed, the rider will present to the judge. The judge will look at the horse, and then they will go straight into the show phase. The horses/ponies are only in the ring together for the prize giving.

There are no age restrictions on these classes, nor height restrictions on the horses/ponies. Plaited and native types also compete together. It is genuinely about getting young/novice horses or riders an introduction into the working hunter classes.
